Money has been regarded as bone of contention between friends and relatives. It is said lend money to a person if you want to spoil him or make foe. Money - wealthy, property or estate have always caused family, feuds and even murders for it is said that all is fair in love war. Parents and children and brothers and sisters are red against one other. Money is devil’s child and is responsible for many mischief and evils. Some people think that wealth can bring happiness in life but it is not so. The doubt money can make the run of life easier but it can bring happiness. Real happiness is found in the homes of poor who are contented united in the common bond of genuine love and live by honest earnings, rarely with the opulent.

With the spread of modern materialistic civilization, money has become a craze with the people, even the very aim of education that aims at three fold development (physical, mental and moral) of human personality and building of character, has radically changed. Instead of acquiring learning for the sake of learning, majority has hectic aims to earn money by hooks or crooks and become rich over night. Moral values have now shattered and the educated people indulge all the malpractices. The growing and griping wave of corruption in our society is the result of excessive love or craze for money.

Evils like bribery, nepotism, favoritism are the off shoots of money mania. The officers, the sub-ordinates, the pressmen, technicians and technocrats all are Mammon worshipers. Crimes, hoarding, black marketing, smug, drug trafficking, are the evils fed by money.

The evils of opulence stop no where. The urban society is the worst victim of these evils. Tax evasion, undue profits, forged certificates and degrees, forged documents, black money, service commissions, goodwill money, custom vagaries, traffic crimes etc. are the ghost like evils which Walk hand and hand with the people. No crime is too serious or big before money. One can even purchase the law, influence judgment, strangle justice and pass examination and procure admissions. These evils have become too established in our society that no body is ashamed of them. Shameless is the fond child of money.

This is not at all an over drawn picture of evils of money. I recall my friend who remarked, “This bloody purse is a curse”. All the social, political, legal and moral crimes rampant in the society are the fat off springs of money, wealth or opulence.

The story, of the advanced countries is all the more shocking rake the USA, the European countries, the Muslim countries of Middle East and even Japan in the East are worst examples of growing curse, of wealth. Japan, predominately follower of Buddha, is not lacking behind in worldly or materialistic culture. The night clubs, the black-out pups, the nudist clubs, wife-swapping. public prostitution, incidents of rapes and incest, child- lifting and other heinous crimes have become order of the day. Excess of everything is bad, but excess of money is worst.
